Deep down — deep, deep, deeeep down — she wants to forgive him and believe what his promises, but the fresh memory of the moment she found out about his other loves came back to mind. Rinoa frowned and huffed some more, thoroughly done with Snow for the moment.
“IF I choose to believe you and you want to get back in my good graces… you’ll have to apologize and MEAN it. And promise that this won’t happen again!”
Her words struck him – like nails – and it caused a terrible fear to surface, a phobia he had always dreaded and tried to smother– his fear of failure and disappointing those he cherished deeply. How she spoke and the expression she wore were factors – hints – that he had reached that point.
“Rinoa…”
Her name escaped his lips and his frame began to sink; he was kneeling.
“I apologize for my behavior– and you have my word that it’ll never happen again. I promise.”
She huffs and folds her arms across her chest, tapping her right foot as she regards the male with an exasperated expression. “Nope, you’re a big jerk! You liiiiiied to me!”
He’s aware of his actions– no, really… he is and he feels awful for committing such a crime. “Rinoa…” Desperate times call for desperate measures– so with a hand placed to his chest, he bows his front, his head lowering.
“If I can do anything – and anything at all – would you ever forgive me?”
