He knew it wouldn’t do much good for him if he kept on speaking as though she were alive and well… But how could he possibly explain these things to a complete stranger right off the bat like this? Pushing the thought aside, he focused on Cooke and Mack, his missing Grandchildren.
“Her kids, actually. I was supposed to take care of them and we got… Separated.”
“That’s not good.”
So, he needed help after all? Luckily for him, Snow was the right guy for the job– and if he denied his offer, he would insist otherwise.
“If you told me what they looked like, I could lend ya’ a hand?”
Not that it was any of his business, but Kaim was doing his best to try and open up to others, if only by a fraction.
“You’re lookin’ for someone for your daughter?”
He knew that for a fact – that it wasn’t any of his business, but if it meant lending a hand… well, Snow wouldn’t forgive himself if he didn’t at least try to ask.
┋She tilted her head, relaxing her shoulders. Simple slip of the mind in that moment. Still, they’d continue their game with Serah feeling overly enthusiastic.
❝Well I guess we know what I would do in that moment! I would have gotten so mad! At them both!!❞
┋She huffs.
❝Okay, okay… What if, Gadot…. Turned into a cat!!!❞
“I wouldn’t doubt that for a second.” Another sound of amusement left his lips at her answer. Whenever it came to her students, not only was she passionate, but she was strict and professional. It brought a bit of concern– what if she found out? How would she react? He’d keep it to himself until he went through with a confession. But how long would that take? How long could he keep it to himself?
It was her next question that brushed away that thought– and a third laugh surfaced.
“Ooooh boy– that hothead? I’d have to see it to believe it!”
“Maybe I’d name him Princess, or have Yuj put him in cute outfits.” It was a humorous thought. “What ifyou turned in a cat?”
┋Serah covered her mouth, letting the small laugh come out. However, stiffling anything else from coming out. Other then the overly amused expression come across her face. The whole notion of him talking to the bear despite him crying, had been a peculiarly funny notion to her. Upon his ‘What if’ situation, Serah found herself brushing that same hand forward in exclamation.
❝Wait! Are you trying to tell me that happened? Maqui did what—- MAQUI!!!!!❞
┋She took what he said to heart in that moment, spinning around to look for the fool who would meet their maker!!!
“——Huh?” ( Uh-oh. Perhaps he should have worded that differently. )
“What? No! That’s not what I’m sayin’ at all, Serah! Y'know I’d give him a good wallop if I found him doin’ something like that!”
And he would have. Although Maqui was considered a younger brother to Snow, he never lacked the reluctance in calling him out– especially if he was up to no good.
“It was just a question, Serah. I thought we were playin’ a “What If?” game.”
“In that case, I’d tell the big fella that as much as I felt bad for punchin’ him, he needs to scram. We don’t need a cryin’ bear runnin’ around here– think about how scared everyone would be.” A laugh.
“All right, my turn. What if one of your students cheated on their test and you found out Maqui helped?”
